European Court of Human Rights
Ana Maria Guerra Martins is a Judge of the European Court of Human Rights since 1 April 2020 and Full Professor at the Law School of Lisbon University, she previously served as Judge at the Constitutional Court of Portugal (2007-2016) and as Inspector General of Judicial Services (2006-2007) .
Having lectured as Assistant Professor and Professor at the Law School of Lisbon University since 1988 and 2000, respectively, she has equally been invited as Guest Professor at several law schools (Law College of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University (2019), Law Faculty Jean Monnet, Paris XI University (2004), Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique (2004-2005)).
She was a member of the European Commission's European Network of Legal Experts in Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination (2016-2020).
Prior to her PhD (2000), she was a guest researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law of Heidelberg, Germany (1997-1999).
She has participated as a speaker in several conferences and has published several books and articles in the fields of European Union Law, European and International Human Rights Law and Constitutional Law.
