Signe Rehling Larsen is Fellow by Examination in Law at Magdalen College, Oxford. Before coming to Oxford in 2020, Signe was Max Weber Fellow in Law at the European University Institute in Florence. Signe was educated in law, politics and philosophy at the LSE, the New School for Social Research, Bard College Berlin and the University of Copenhagen. Signe’s research is concerned with the study of constitutions in a theoretical, historical and comparative perspective. Recent publications include The Constitutional Theory of the Federation and the European Union (OUP 2021) as well as European public law after empires (2022) European Law Open, which addresses the underexplored legacy of empire for European public law, and Varieties of Constitutionalism in the European Union (2021) Modern Law Review, which is concerned with the different forms of constitutionalism that shape the EU Member States. Signe is currently undertaking a new research project on empire and European public law.
